Mr. Buck <br />noted that this recommendation was in addition to the four <br />police officers recommended by staff. <br /> <br /> It was the consensus of Council to tentatively provide <br />up to $50,000 for the auxiliary police personnel. <br /> <br /> It was the consensus of Council to increase the City <br />Manager's salary to $77,000 in order to make his salary <br />comparable with other similar localities. <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe stated that he was not in favor of fully <br /> funding the School Board's request without receiving more <br /> information about the Alternative Education Program and <br /> <br />ental pay for extracurricular activities. <br />m~eting was adjourned ~ ~ <br /> C~k t <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - April 4, 1988 <br /> <br /> Council met in regUlar session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. <br /> <br />MINUTES <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the <br />minutes of the March 14th meeting were unanimously approved <br />as presented. <br /> <br /> On motion by Dr. Hall, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the <br />minutes of the March 16th meeting were unanimously approved <br />as presented. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Dr. Hall, the <br />minutes of the March 21st meeting were approved as <br />presented, with Mr. Towe abstaining. <br /> <br />PUBLIC <br /> <br /> Mr. Patrick Crowley, representing the Committee for Safe <br />Reservoir Access, stated that his group is interested in <br />studying ways to provide a safe boat ramp and parking area <br />paid for by users at the Rivanna Reservoir. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck recommended that Mr. Crowley meet with Mr. <br />Hendrix and report back to Council. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING: CITY MANAGER'S PROPOSED FY 88-89 BUDGET <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix summarized the proposed FY 88-89 budget as <br />well as tentative changes made by Council. Mr. Hendrix <br />stated that details for the proposed policy auxiliary, for <br />which an amount up to $50,000 has been set aside, would be <br />provided to Council prior to the final adoption of the <br />budget. <br /> <br /> Mr. James Fortune spoke in favor of funding for the <br />proposed police auxiliary. <br /> <br /> Ms. Rosemary Hayes, Chairman of the Northwestern Health <br />Systems Agency, spoke in favor of funding for the Agency. <br /> <br /> Mr. Tom Bernier, former executive directOr of the <br />Northwestern Health Systems Agency, spoke in favor of <br />funding for the agencY, adding that this would be a one-time <br />request. <br /> <br /> Ms. Sandy Snook, representing Piedmont Council of the <br />Arts, reinforced the need for the full $15,000 requested by <br />PCA in order to employ a staff person. <br /> <br /> <br />
