Mr. Buck noted that this recommendation was in addition to the four police officers recommended by staff. It was the consensus of Council to tentatively provide up to $50,000 for the auxiliary police personnel. MINUTES On motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mrs. Gleason, the minutes of the March 14th meeting were unanimously approved as presented. PUBLIC Mr. Patrick Crowley, representing the Committee for Safe Reservoir Access, stated that his group is interested in studying ways to provide a safe boat ramp and parking area paid for by users at the Rivanna Reservoir. Mr. Buck recommended that Mr. Crowley meet with Mr. Hendrix and report back to Council. PUBLIC HEARING: CITY MANAGER'S PROPOSED FY 88-89 BUDGET Mr. Hendrix summarized the proposed FY 88-89 budget as well as tentative changes made by Council. Mr. Hendrix stated that details for the proposed policy auxiliary, for which an amount up to $50,000 has been set aside, would be provided to Council prior to the final adoption of the budget. Mr. James Fortune spoke in favor of funding for the proposed police auxiliary. Ms. Rosemary Hayes, Chairman of the Northwestern Health Systems Agency, spoke in favor of funding for the Agency. Mr. Tom Bernier, former executive directOr of the Northwestern Health Systems Agency, spoke in favor of funding for the agencY, adding that this would be a one-time request. Ms. Sandy Snook, representing Piedmont Council of the Arts, reinforced the need for the full $15,000 requested by PCA in order to employ a staff person.
