101 <br /> <br /> NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Tuesday, <br />April 12, 1988 AT 7:00 p.m. IN THE Council Chamber. <br /> <br />THE PROPOSED AGENDA IS AS FOLLOWS~ <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: ANNUAL APPROPRIATION (2nd reading) <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: TAX LEVY (2nd reading) <br /> <br />BY ORDER OF THE MAYOR <br /> <br />BY Jeanne Cox (signed) <br /> <br />COUNCIL CHAMBER - April 12, 1988 <br /> <br /> Council met in special session on this date with the <br />following members present: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. <br />Gleason, Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE: ANNUAL APPROPRIATION (2nd reading) <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck questioned whether $40,000 for the police <br />auxiliary would be adequate. Mr. Buck requested that the <br />Police report regarding the police auxiliary be expanded to <br />include the amount of coverage and locations. <br /> <br /> Mr. Hendrix stated that he felt that the $40,000 was <br />an adequate amount to get the program started and additional <br />funds could be added at a later date if necessary. <br /> <br /> It was recommended that the police auxiliarY be used in <br />Be.!mont and Forest Hills Park. ~ <br /> <br /> Mr. Towe stated that he was not satisfied with the <br />amount of money in the School budget for the Alternative <br />Education Program and recommended that 1/2% to 1% of the <br />teacher salary increase be held back by Council in case <br />additional funding is needed for the Alternative Education <br />Program. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck stated that he would not recommend holding back <br />part of the School funding, but would rather send a positive <br />message to the Schools that they must work within the budget <br />appropriated by the Council. <br /> <br /> The ordinance entitled "A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE BUDGET <br />FOR THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING <br />JULY !, 1988 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1989 AND PROVIDING FOR THE <br />ANNUAL APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS FOR SUCH FISCAL YEAR," which <br />was offered at the April 4th meeting, was approved by the <br />following vote. Ayes: Mr. Barnes, Mr. Buck, Mrs. Gleason, <br />Dr. Hall, Mr. Towe. Noes: None. <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE ~BUDGET FOR THE <br /> CITY OF'CHARLOTTESVILLE~ FOR THE.FISCAL-YEAR ~ <br />BEGINNING JULY 1, 1988 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1989 <br />AND PROVIDING F'OR THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS <br /> FOR SUCH FISCAL YEAR. <br /> <br />I~<~ ADOPTION OF BUDGET <br /> WHEREAS, Pursuant~to Section 15 of the City Charter and <br />Section 15.1-160 of the Code of Virginia, the City Manager <br />has caused to be prepared and Presented to City Council a <br />proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1988, <br />and ending June 30, 1989; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a synopsis of such proposed budget has been <br />published in the Daily Progress, a newspaper of general <br /> <br /> <br />
