t <br />• APPROPRIATION AND GRANT REQUEST <br />BICYCLE SAFETY GRANT <br />WHEREAS, the City has been advised by the Virginia Department <br />of Highways and Transportation that the Federal Highway Administra- <br />tion has tentatively approved federal funding of a bicycle safety <br />grant to assist in the removal of certain hazards to bicycle travel <br />and the development of a program to educate motorists, bicyclists <br />and pedestrians about bicycle safety; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires formally to request federal <br />participation in such grant program, and to reallocate certain local <br />funds previously appropriated for bicycle trail construction for <br />the local share of such grant; now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia: <br />(1) That the Virginia Department of Highways and <br />Transportation and Federal Highway Administration are <br />hereby formally requested to approve federal funding of <br />• the bicycle safety grant in the amount of $10,000.00, <br />or 25.58 of a total project budget of $39,214.00; <br />(2) That the City Manager is hereby authorized and <br />directed to execute all necessary grant applications, <br />agreements, assurances and other documents required <br />in connection with such grant; <br />(3) That the sum of $29,214.00 previously.appropriated <br />to expenditure account 05-00590 in the Capital Projects <br />Fund is hereby transferred and reappropriated to the <br />Grants Fund to serve as the local share of such bicycle <br />safety grant; <br />(4) That the entire sum of $39,214.00 is hereby <br />appropriated in the Grants Fund, from the two foregoing <br />revenue sources in the respective amounts indicated to <br />the expenditure accounts set forth: <br />Federal Local <br />Account Purpose Funds Funds Total <br />11-21070 Bicycle Safety Program $ 7,550 $ 7,450 $10,000 <br />• 11-21080 Bicycle Hazard Removal $ 7,450 $21,764 $29,214 <br />Total $10,000 $29,214 $39,214 <br />
