APPROPRIATION <br />$39811,706.00 <br />Transit Center Facility <br />WHEREAS, on October 17, 2001, the architectural firm of Wallace, Roberts & <br />Todd, LLC (WRT) was contracted to develop an urban design plan for the downtown and <br />West Main Street areas, to include the proposed transit facility; and <br />WHEREAS, on June 27, 2002, City Council approved appropriation of <br />$1,000,000 in grants from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the Virginia <br />Department of Rail and Public Transportation (VDRPT) to support the design and <br />construction of a transit transfer facility and related improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, in January 2003 City Council approved the design plan submitted by <br />WRT for the transit facility, which was then presented to the Board of Architectural <br />Review and the general public for comment; and <br />WHEREAS, on January 5, 2004, City Council approved appropriation of <br />• $5,578,000 in grants from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the Virginia <br />Department of Rail and Public Transportation (VDRPT) to support the design and <br />construction of a transit transfer facility and related improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, the FTA, the Commonwealth Transportation Board and the VDRPT <br />have approved the City's applications for an additional $3,811,706.00 in grant funds for <br />this project, and City staff recommends approval of an appropriation equal to that <br />amount. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that the sum of $3,811,706.00, to be received as grants from the <br />Federal Transit Administration, the Virginia Department of Rail & Public Transportation, <br />and the Commonwealth Transportation Board is hereby appropriated to account code 26- <br />191-092052 in the Capital Projects Fund to support the design and construction of a transit <br />facility and related improvements. <br />Approved by Council <br />June 20, 2005 <br />k of City Council <br />
