RESOLUTION <br />• DOWNTOWN MALL MARKETING DURING MALL RECONSTRUCTION <br />$50,000 <br />WHEREAS, on October 6, 2008 City Council approved an expenditure of $50,000 <br />in matching funds to support a marketing plan for the Downtown Mall to alleviate the <br />potential negative impact of the Mall reconstruction project; and <br />WHEREAS, the Downtown Business Association has provided documentation <br />evidencing advertising worth at least $200,000 to comply with the match requirements, <br />and the Downtown Mall Committee (comprised of mall merchants and City staff) has <br />requested an additional $50,000 to implement the second phase in the marketing plan <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the City funding would be matched dollar -for -dollar by the Downtown <br />Business Association in either cash or in-kind services; now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that the <br />sum of $50,000 of currently appropriated funds in the Capital Improvement Fund (Mall <br />Construction Account P-00156), is hereby allocated to support marketing efforts during the <br />reconstruction of the downtown mall. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia that the City will match, dollar -for -dollar, expenditures for marketing by Downtown <br />Mall merchants or businesses, in either cash or in-kind services, as approved by City staff, <br />up to a maximum of $50,000.00, which shall include $5,000.00 for two (2) free Pavilion <br />concerts in early April 2009. <br />Approved by Council <br />February 2, 2009 <br />� IM <br />0 <br />
