u <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTION 27-16 OF THE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />RELATING TO TAXICAB RATES <br />1. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that §27-16 of <br />the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, be amended and reordained as <br />follows: <br />SECTION 27-16. Rates established. <br />(a) The following rates are hereby established for services rendered by <br />taxicabs and other similar passenger vehicles for hire within the city: <br />(1) Sevens -f Eighty cents for the first ene-€4tlt one-third mile, or any <br />fraction thereof. <br />(2) Ten Twenty cents for each additional ane-€rftltone-third mile, or <br />any fraction thereof. <br />is (3) Twenty cents for each twe-mi-n+rte-s- minute and forty seconds, or <br />fraction thereof, of time. <br />(4) An additional twenty-five cents for each trip between 10:00 p.m. and <br />6:00 a.m. <br />(b) Time shall only include the time consumed while the taxicab is stopped <br />or slowed for traffic to a speed less than seven miles per hour, time consumed for <br />delays or stopovers en route at the direction of the passenger. While such time is <br />being charged, there shall be no charge for mileage. <br />2. This ordinance shall be effective immediately; provided that each taxicab <br />operator shall levy a twenty-five cent surcharge per trip for the next ninety days or <br />until his meter can be adjusted to reflect the new rates, whichever shall first <br />occur. <br />Copy Teste: <br />0 <br />Adopted by the Council <br />February 7, 1977 <br />U <br />
