• AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />1976, BY ADDING SECTIONS 10-56.1 AND 16-55.1 <br />RELATING TO THE LICENSING AND PARKING OF VEHICLES <br />BELONGING TO MEMBERS OF THE <br />CHARLOTTESVILLE VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY AND <br />THE CHARLOTTE SVILLE-ALBEMARLE RESCUE SQUAD, INC. <br />[I <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville that the <br />Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, be amended by adding sections numbered <br />10-59.1 and 16-55.1 as follows: <br />SECTION 10-59. 1. Licenses for volunteer firefighters and <br />rescue squad members. <br />Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions of this article, every member <br />in good standing of the volunteer organizations known and designated as the <br />Charlottesville Fire Company and the Charlottesville -Albemarle Rescue Squad, Inc. <br />shall be entitled annually to license one passenger car or pick-up truck of 10, 000 <br />pounds or less gross weight, without payment of the tax imposed by this article. <br />On or before April 15th of each year the officers of such organizations shall furnish <br />to the city treasurer a list of the members currently in good standing with such <br />organizations and the treasurer shall issue to each such member a special license <br />tag or decal which such member shall display on such vehicle as designated by the <br />treasurer. Any person having been issued such special tag or decal who ceases <br />to be a member in good standing of such organizations shall immediately surrender <br />such special tag or decal to the treasurer and shall pay the appropriate license <br />tax on such vehicle for the balance of the license year. <br />SECTION 16-55. 1. Parking by volunteer firefighters and <br />rescue squad members. <br />Notwithstanding any other provision of this article, members of the city <br />volunteer fire company or volunteer rescue squad who have been issued a special <br />tag or decal by the city treasurer as provided in §10-59. 1 of this code shall be <br />permitted to park their vehicles displaying such special plates or decals in dis- <br />regard of the provisions of §16-45(a) of this article, but shall comply with all <br />other provisions of this article in the same manner as any other persons are required <br />to comply therewith. <br />Copy Teste: <br />Clerk <br />Adopted by the Council <br />Aay 9, 1977 <br />
