(al) This section shall not be construed to permit the keeping, main- <br />taining, exhibiting or operating of any slot machine or device in which the <br />• element of chance is employed, or which gives any prize or any article other <br />than the article of merchandise or mxsie service in payment of which the <br />coin was originally deposited. <br />Any person having or maintaining any such slot machine the licensing of <br />which is prohibited by this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor <br />punishable as provided in section 1-10, and such machine shall be confiscated <br />and destroyed. <br />Eeeh-f4eense-issae�-she}f-refer-te-the-mantsfaetnreris-number-of-tke <br />maekine;-er-if-the-m�ekine-bas-ne-snek-n�nber--the-�ieense-chaff-be-Bested <br />in-e-eensgienens-g�aee-en-tke-maekine- <br />(b) In addition to the license tax hereinabove imposed in-resgeet-te- <br />eaeh-maehine, every person selling, leasing, renting or otherwise furnishing <br />to others a -slat pinball machines or machines te-ethers furnishing music, <br />games or amusement, other than devices or machines affording rides to <br />children, shall be deemed a slat coin machine operator and shall pay an <br />annual license tax of one hundred fifty dollars. <br />(c) No part of this section shall be construed to apply to pay <br />telephones or to slot machines used for the purpose of vending individual <br />•sanitary drinking cups or United States postage stamps, ane3-srxbseetien-{b} <br />ef-this-seetien-skai}-net-be-eenstrned-to-aggiy or to operators of automatic <br />baggage or parcel checking machines; nor shall this section relieve any <br />person from the obligations imposed by section 15-56 upon the amusement <br />devices therein described. <br />(d) Every person placing ven&ing a� machines required to be licensed <br />hereunder in the city shall furnish the commissioner of revenue, on <br />January 1 of each year, the location and the make of each machine owned. <br />Every vending machine shall be plainly marked by the owner thereof with the <br />name and address of such owner. Each license issued shall refer to the <br />manufacturer's numbers of the machines whose gross receipts are included <br />thereunder. If the machine has no such number a facsimile or copy of such <br />license shall be conspicuously posted on such machine. <br />(e) Regularly licensed retail merchants paying retail merchants license <br />tax on their sales at retail shall not be required to pay any separate vend- <br />ing machine license on such coin-operated machines which are located on the <br />premises of their place of business. However, the use of a cigarette <br />vending machine on premises which are not already covered by a tobacco <br />retailer's license under section 15-105 of this chapter shall require the <br />owner of such machine to take out a tobacco retailer's license for that <br />location. <br />0 <br />
