..w. <br />Recommended by Planning Commission <br />December 12, 1973 <br />• AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND AND REORDAIN <br />SECTION 31-159 OF THE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />AS AMENDED, RELATING TO STANDARDS <br />FOR DEVELOPMENT OF OFF-STREET PARKING AREAS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville <br />that §31-159 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as <br />amended, be amended and reordained as follows: <br />Section 31-159. Aisles; entrance, exit driveways <br />and loading space. <br />Aisles, entrance and exit driveways shall be built to the <br />following minimum specifications: <br />(a) Aisles with two-way traffice movement shall be not less <br />than twenty-four feet in width. <br />(b) Aisles with one-way traffic movement shall be as specified <br />below: <br />(1) Aisles serving, ninety degree parking shall be <br />not less than twenty-four feet in width. <br />(2) Aisles serving sixty degree parking shall be <br />not less than twenty feet in width. <br />(3) Aisles serving forty-five degree parking shall <br />be not less than fifteen feet in width. <br />(4) Aisles serving thirty degree parking shall be <br />not less than twelve feet in width. <br />(5) Where such aisles serve parallel parking which <br />are located immediately adjacent to buildings they shall <br />be not less than sixteen feet in width. All other aisles <br />serving parallel parking shall be twelve feet in width or <br />as much additional width as may be required for access of <br />emergency vehicles or curvilinear streets. <br />(c) The location and design of entrance and exit driveways <br />for all parking areas, except those serving one -family attached <br />and detached and two-family dwellings, shall be approved by the <br />planning commission or the director of planning to insure a safe <br />and convenient means of ingress and egress, and shall conform to <br />the following standards: <br />(1) No driveway shall exceed fifty feet in width at <br />the property line, nor sixty feet at the curb line. <br />(2) No driveway entering a street at the curb line <br />• shall be located within fifteen feet of the right of way of <br />an intersecting street, or less than five feet from the end <br />of the curb radius. <br />(3) No driveway shall be located within five feet, at <br />the curb line, from the line of the adjacent property. <br />
