• AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND CHAPTER 21 OF THE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />AS AMENDED, BY ADDING AN ARTICLE III <br />CONTAINING SECTIONS 21-14 THROUGH 21-16 <br />PROVIDING FOR EMPLOYMENT OF OFF-DUTY POLICE OFFICERS <br />AND DEPUTY SHERIFFS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville: <br />1. That Chapter 21 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as <br />amended, be amended by adding an Article III containing Sections 21-14 <br />through 21-16 as follows: <br />ARTICLE III <br />Employment of Off -Duty Police Officers <br />and Deputy Sheriffs <br />Section 21-14. Engaging in Off -Duty Employment. <br />• Police officers and deputy sheriffs may engage in off-duty employ- <br />ment which may require the use of their police powers in the performance <br />of such employment. <br />Section 21-15. Authority of Chief to Promulgate Rules <br />and Regulations. <br />The chief of police shall have the authority to promulgate reasonable <br />rules and regulations applicable to such off-duty employment of police <br />officers. <br />Section 21-16. Authority of City Sheriff to Promulgate <br />Reasonable Rules and Regulations. <br />The city sheriff shall have the authority to promulgate reasonable <br />rules and regulations applicable to such off-duty employment of deputy <br />sheriffs. <br />• <br />
