0 <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 15-14 OF THE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />RELATING TO PRORATION OF BUSINESS LICENSES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville: <br />1. That Section 15-14 of the Code of the City of Charlotte sviLle, 1976, <br />be amended and reordained as follows: <br />Section 15-14. Proration of License. <br />Licenses granted pursuant to this chapter shall not be prorated for <br />the unexpired portion of the license year; provided, that in the case of any <br />business forced to cease its activity by reason of government acquisition <br />of its property, the licensee shall be entitled to a refund for the number of <br />months remaining in the license year after termination of operation. <br />• Notwithstanding the foregoing limitations, any annual license fee <br />imposed by this chapter which is based on a flat rate rather than on a gross <br />receipts may be prorated on a quarterly basis, when the initial license for <br />such business is being acquired, with the applicant for such License being <br />charged the fee for each unexpired quarter or fractional part thereof, of the <br />license year. <br />2. That this ordinance shall be made effective as of March 1979, and the <br />City Treasurer be authorized and directed to refund any sums paid after such <br />date which are not required as a result of the adoption hereof. <br />Copy Teste: <br />of the Council <br />• <br />Adopted by the Council <br />May 7, 1979 <br />
