• AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 20-12 <br />OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />RELATING TO THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE <br />RETIREMENT PLAN COMMISSION. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, that <br />§20-12 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, be amended and <br />reordained as follows: <br />Section 20-12. Created; membership; purpose. <br />(a) There shall be a commission, known as the retirement plan <br />commission, whose duty it shall be to administer the supplemental retirement <br />or pension plan of the city, in accordance with the provisions of this article <br />and of article III of this chapter. <br />(b) The commission shall be comprised of the mayor, the chairman <br />of the finance committee of the city council, the city manager, the director <br />of finance, the director of personnel, and the city treasurer and three regular <br />full-time employees of the city. <br />• (c) Such three employee at -Large members shall be appointed by the <br />city council from a list of eligible candidates certified to the council by the <br />city manager, as hereinafter provided. They shall be appointed for terms of <br />three years, and shall net- be eligible o :tee rthernselees to serve for two <br />terms provided that of the three members initially so appointed, one shall be <br />appointed for a one year term, and one shall be appointed for a two year term; <br />and provided that those employees initially appointed for terms of less than <br />three years and those appointed to fill unexpired terms shall be eligible for <br />reappointment to a two full three year terms. The terms of the ex officio <br />members of the commission shall be concurrent with their service in such <br />offices. <br />(d) Whenever a vacancy exists in any of the three employee at -large <br />positions on the commission, the city manager shall certify such fact to the <br />city council along with a list of candidates, which shall include the name of <br />any otherwise eligible employee whose name has been placed in nomination <br />by petition signed by at Least fifteen other regular full time employees of the <br />city. In the event that an insufficient number of petitions are thus presented, <br />the city manager shall nominate an additional employee or employees, to <br />the end that such list shall include at least two nominees for every vacancy <br />to be filled by city council; provided that at least thirty days prior to <br />certifying such List to city council, the city manager shall cause to be posted, <br />0 <br />
