• As amended and carried over <br />to 2nd reading, 5/14/79 <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 27-16, AS AMENDED, <br />OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />RELATING TO TAXICAB RATES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville: <br />1. That §27-16, as amended, of the Code of the City of Charlottes- <br />ville, 1976, be amended and reordained as follows: <br />Section 27-16. Rates established. <br />(a) The following rates are hereby established for services <br />rendered by taxicabs and other similar passenger vehicles for hire <br />within the city: <br />• (1) Ninety cents for the first eae-third one-fourth <br />mile or any fraction thereof. <br />(2) Twenty cents for each additional ene-third <br />one-fourth mile, or any fraction thereof. <br />(3) Fifteen cents for each minute or fraction thereof, <br />of time. <br />(4) An additional twenty-five cents for each trip <br />between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. <br />(b) Time shall only include the time consumed while the taxi- <br />cab is stopped or slowed for traffic to a speed less than seven <br />miles per hour, time consumed for delays or stopovers en route at <br />the direction of the passenger. While such time is being charged, <br />there shall be no charge for mileage. <br />2. This ordinance shall be effective immediately, provided that <br />each taxicab operator shall levy a surcharge of twenty-five cents <br />per trip for ninety days following the adoption hereof, or until <br />his meter is adjusted to reflect the new rates, whichever shall <br />first occur. <br />
