• <br />• <br />• <br />4. <br />(b) Whenever any person owning or leasing property along an <br />existing city water main desires to provide a service connection <br />from such main to his such property, he or she shall make applica- <br />tion to the director of finance on forms prescribed by the director. <br />There shall be a charge of four hundred twenty-five dollars, payable <br />upon such application, for the installation and connection by city <br />forces of a five-eighths inch water meter to the city's main. If <br />the applicant desires a larger service and meter than the foregoing, <br />he or she shall be furnished an estimate of the cost of providing <br />such service, including the cost of the meter and repairs to the <br />street, by the city engineer and, after payment of this estimate, the <br />city shall cause the service and meter to be installed. <br />(c) All installations made pursuant to this section from and <br />including the meter to the main shall be the property of the city <br />and the city shall maintain such service and meter. <br />(d) In new subdivisions or any portion thereof the city manager <br />may, if the city manager deems it to be in the best interest of the <br />city, install water connections at the same time the water main or <br />mains are installed in the new streets and prior to the time that <br />the streets are paved, provided: (1) The subdivider so requests, <br />(2) the subdivider gives assurance in writing that the lots will <br />be built upon within a reasonable time, (3) the subdivider designates <br />on a plat the desired location of such connections, and (4) the <br />subdivider provides a connection in accordance with city standards <br />excepting the meter, which will be provided and set by the city. <br />The charge for a water connection for a five-eighths inch meter <br />installed under this paragraph shall be seventy dollars. If the <br />applicant desires a larger service and meter than the foregoing, he <br />or she shall be furnished an estimate of the cost of providing such <br />service and shall execute such water contract as may be required by <br />the city manager. <br />(e) For all connections to fire hydrants, where the director <br />of public works or his or her designee determines that such connec- <br />tion will not impair operation of the water system and where meter- <br />ing of such connection is determined by him such director or <br />designee to be impracticable, there shall be a flat charge of twenty- <br />five dollars per day payable in advance to the director of finance. <br />Section 29-2. Rates. <br />Water rates shall be as follows: <br />(a) Generally: <br />(1) Minimum charge (300 cu. ft. or fraction thereof) $2.75 <br />(2) All over 300 cu. ft., per 1,000 cu. ft. $4784 $5.38• <br />
