• 0 9000TED BY COUNCIL JUNE 21, 1982 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN ARTICLE III OF CHAPTER 20 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA, 1976, AS AMENDED, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION NUMBERED 20-38, SUCH NEW SECTION RELATING TO RETIREMENT BENEFITS FOR FORMER CITY EMPLOYEES WHOSE EMPLOYMENT WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE CHARLOTTESVILLE-ALBEMARLE REGIONAL JAIL. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottes- ville, Virginia: That Article III of Chapter 20 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended, is further amended, as follows: Section 20-38. Charlottesville -Albemarle Regional Jail Board Employees. Any other provision of this article to the contrary not- withstanding, the membership of the plan shall includ employees of the Charlottesville -Albemarle Regional J who were employees of the City prior to November 1, 1 whose employment was transferred to such Board on or date. For such employees, their service for the Char Albemarle Regional Jail Board and their compensation such Board shall be treated as creditable service and compensation respectively, to the same extent as if t remained employees of the City during their respectiv employment with the Charlottesville -Albemarle Regiona and they shall be entitled to benefits under the prov this article to the same extent as other members, wit following exceptions: ail Board 974 and about that lottesville- received fro creditable hey had e periods of 1 Jail Board isions of (a) Item (1) in section 20-23(a) and item (1) in section 20-29(a) of this Code shall each be considered to be zero; (b) No benefits shall be payable in the event of retire- ment pursuant to section 20-28(c) of this Code nor shall any benefits be payable under the provisions of section 20-29 of this Code; and (c) The amount of any other benefit payable under the provisions of this article shall be determined as the product of (1) multiplied by (2), following: (1) The amount of the benefit determined in accordance with the applicable provisions of this article; multiplied by (2) The ratio that the member's period of creditable service rendered as a City employee nears to nis or ner total perioa or creaitanle service with the City and the Charlottesville - J
