"ZPAlv[a]D <br />TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTIONS 12-3, 12-4, 12-6, <br />. 24-2 AND 29-2 OF THE CODE OF THE <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, REIATING TO CITY GAS, SEWER AND WATER <br />CHARGES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />that §§12-3, 12-4, 12-6, 24-2 and 29-2 of the Code of the City <br />of Charlottesville, 1976, are hereby amended and reordained as <br />follows: <br />Section 12-3. Rates - Generally. <br />The gas rates based on monthly meter readings shall be as follows: <br />First 500 cubic feet or fraction thereof ........ 83-35 $4.00 <br />Next 2,500 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet ....... 4-64 4.99 <br />Next 3,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet ....... 4-45 4.58 <br />Next 144,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet ..... 3 -BB 3.91 <br />All over 150,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet.3763� 3.78 <br />Rates etttsj:ele-the-eity for gas sold and delivered to customers <br />outside the }4m}ts-e€-the city limits shall be greater by ten percent <br />• than the rates specified above. <br />Section 12-4. Same - Summer air conditioning. <br />Gas service under the following rate shall be available to <br />customers who request such service in writing and who have installed <br />and use air conditioning equipment operated by natural gas as the <br />principal source of energy. The air conditioning rate will be <br />available for bills rendered during the months of June through <br />October of each year and shall be as follows: <br />(a) Residential. For the first four thousand cubic feet of <br />gas used per month, the charge shall be the sum as set forth under <br />section 12-3 of this Code, and for all gas used in excess of four <br />thousand cubic feet per month, the rate shall be two dollars and <br />eighty-three ninety-one cents per one thousand cubic feet. <br />(b) Other. All gas used for summer air conditioning shall be <br />separately metered and billed at the rate of two dollars and eighty- <br />three ninety-one cents per one thousand cubic feet. All gas used <br />during billing periods other than June through October of each year <br />shall be at the rates set forth in section 12-3 or 12-6 of this Code <br />as applicable. The city manager may, when he or she deems it imprac- <br />ticable to install a separate meter for air conditioning equipment, <br />permit the use of one meter for all gas delivered to the customer, in <br />
