• AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 3 <br />OF THE CONTRACT AND PERMIT PORTION <br />OF THE ORDINANCE ADOPTED FEBRUARY 19, 1980, <br />WHICH GRANTED AN EXCLUSIVE FRANCHISE <br />TO YELLOW AMBULANCE COMPANY <br />TO OPERATE A NON -EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICE, <br />SUCH AMENDED SECTION TO INCREASE <br />THE RATE CHARGED FOR SUCH SERVICE. <br />WHEREAS, on February 19, 1980, this Council adopted an ordinance <br />granting a franchise to Yellow Ambulance Company; and <br />WHEREAS, the company has experienced significant increased costs <br />since that time; now, therefore, <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia: <br />That section 3 of the contract and permit portion of the ordi- <br />nance adopted February 19, 1980 that granted a franchise to Yellow <br />Ambulance Company, is amended and reordained as follows: <br />• Section 3. The contractor agrees to provide adequate ambulance <br />service to the City during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. to <br />those persons who request it as soon as practicable after the <br />request is made and agrees that the rate for such services shall be <br />as follows: <br />All ambulance service furnished within the corporate limits <br />of the City of Charlottesville shall be at a rate not in <br />excess of $397A9 $40.00 for each person transported. <br />It is understood that contractor may, but is not required, to pro- <br />vide ambulance service between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. <br />When contractor does provide such service, the rates shall be as <br />set forth above. The maximum rates set forth above shall not be <br />raised without prior consent of City Council. It is further agreed <br />and understood between the parties that for purposes of this contract, <br />the grounds of the University of Virginia are deemed to be within <br />and a part of the corporate limits of the City. <br />Approved by Council <br />May 16, 1983 <br />Atteste: <br />83-7-11 <br />
