• AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTIONS 12-3, 12-4, 12-6, 12-7, 24-2, 29-1 AND 29-2, AS AMENDED, OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976; RELATING TO CITY GAS, WATER AND SEWER CHARGES. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia: 1. That Sections 12-3, 12-4, 12-6, 12-7, 24-2, 29-1 and 29-2, as amended, of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, are amended and reordained as follows: Section 12-3. Rates - Generally. The gas rates based on monthly meter readings shall be as follows: Basic Monthly Service Charge $7.00 First 3,000 cubic feet or fraction thereof 66769 $6.06 Next 3,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet $6749 $5.69 Next 144,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet $5.09 • All over 150,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet $5-63 $4.97 Section 12-4. Same - Summer air conditioning. Gas service under the following rate shall be available to customers who request such service in writing and who have installed and use air conditioning equipment operated by natural gas as the principal source of energy. The air conditioning rate will be available for bills rendered during the months of May through October of each year and shall be as follows: (a) Residential. For the first four thousand cubic feet of gas used per month, the charge shall be the sum as set forth under section'12-3 of this Code, and for all gas used in excess of four thousand cubic feet per month, the rate shall be five four dollars and eleven fifty cents per one thousand cubic feet. (b) Other. All gas used for summer air conditioning shall be separately billed at the rate of five four dollars and eleven fifty cents per one thousand cubic feet. All gas used during billing periods other than May through October of each year shall be at the rates set forth in section 12-3 or 12-6 of this Code as • applicable.
