crosses a public street or right-of-way. If any additional <br />• overhead or underground cable is installed other than as <br />a street crossing, the Company shall also pay to the City a <br />sum equal to one hundred dollars ($100) for each mile, or <br />fraction thereof, of overhead and underground cable in <br />place. At the option of the Company all fees may be paid <br />at the date of acceptance of this franchise. Such payments <br />shall be in addition to, and not in lieu of, any business <br />license tax, real or personal property tax, or other tax of <br />general application to which the Company may be subject. <br />SECTION X. The term of this franchise shall be for a <br />period of five (5) years from the effective date of this <br />ordinance. If the Company wishes to maintain its equipment <br />• within the City and to continue the operation of the system, <br />it shall give written notice to the City at least ninety (90) <br />days before expiration of the franchise, stating that it <br />wishes to apply for a new franchise. Such application shall <br />include a comprehensive report of the status of the Company's <br />system within the City, any plans for alteration, expansion <br />or improvement of the system, and a statement as to whether <br />the Company has complied with the provisions of this <br />ordinance. The City may grant the Company a new franchise if <br />it determines that there has been substantial compliance with <br />the material provisions of this ordinance, and there is no <br />other good cause why the Company should not be granted a new <br />franchise. Any new franchise shall be granted upon such terms <br />
