• AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTION 12-3, 12-6, 12-7, 24-2 AND <br />29-2, AS AMENDED OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />RELATING TO GAS, WATER AND SEWER CHARGES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottes- <br />ville, Virginia that: <br />1. That Sections 12-3, 12-6, 12-7, 24-2 and 29-2, as <br />amended, of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, are <br />amended and reordained as follows: <br />Sec. 12-3. Rates - Generally. <br />The gas rates based on monthly meter readings shall be as <br />follows: <br />Basic Monthly Service Charge $7.35 <br />First 3,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet 56.-32 5.2460 <br />Next 3,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet $5..-95 4.9312 <br />Next 144,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet 55..-31 4.4066 <br />All over 150,000 cubic Feet, per 1,000 cubic feet 85.-19 4.3017 <br />• Sec. 12-6: Interruptible service. <br />(a) Conditions. Interruptible gas service shall be <br />supplied at locations where facilities are available to supply <br />the amount of gas requested by the consumer, subject to the <br />following conditions: <br />(1) Gas delivered hereunder shall be separately <br />metered and shall not be used interchangeably with gas supplied <br />under any other schedule; <br />(2) The consumer shall have installed and available <br />for immediate use equipment which will use some other fuel and <br />which can be put in operation within two hours after being <br />notified by the city. <br />(b) Customer's agreement. A customer purchasing gas <br />pursuant to this section agrees to discontinue the service when <br />requested by the gas superintendent or his or her representative, <br />on two hours' notice, at any time whenever, in the sole judgment <br />of the gas superintendent, such gas is not available for delivery <br />hereunder. If the customer continues to use or consume gas under <br />this section after being notified to discontinue, the customer <br />shall be billed for all gas so consumed at a rate of ten dollars <br />per thousand cubic feet and the city shall, as soon as the <br />violation comes to its attention, terminate service to the <br />• customer until the period of interruption is over. <br />(c) Basic monthly service charge. The basic monthly charge <br />for interruptible service shall be fifty dollars. <br />1 <br />
