• <br />0 <br />AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING AND REORDAINING ARTICLE III <br />OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, <br />BY AMENDING SECTIONS 16-56 AND 16-57 <br />September 19, 1988 <br />OF CHAPTER 16 <br />1976, AS AMENDED, <br />AND ADDING <br />SECTIONS 16-56.1, 16-56.2, 16-56.3 AND 16-56.4, <br />ALL RELATING TO PERMIT PARKING ZONES AND REGULATIONS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, that Article III of Chapter 16 of the Code of the City <br />of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended, is hereby amended and <br />reordained by amending Sections 16-56 and 16-57 and adding <br />Sections 16-56.1, 16-56.2, 16-56.3 and 16-56.4, as follows: <br />Division 3. Residential Permit Parking Zones and Restricted <br />Parking Blocks. <br />Sec. 16-56. Benes established-, permit required fer en street <br />gadding.- Purpose and Intent. <br />The city council hereby finds and declares that this <br />ordinance and its related regulations are and should be enacted to <br />traffic conditions in residential areas, to protect those areas <br />from polluted air, excessive noise. and other adverse <br />Sec. 16-56.1. Definitions. <br />as defined in the regulations approved in accord with this <br />ordinance. <br />Sec. 16-56.2. Parking in Certain Residential Areas Prohibited <br />Without Permits. <br />The following areas of the city are hereby designated as <br />permit parking zones, within which it shall be unlawful for any <br />motor vehicle to be parked on a public right of way or street <br />unless such vehicle shall properly display a parking permit <br />validly issued in accordance with regulations adopted pursuant to <br />this division: <br />1 <br />
