• AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING AND REORDAINING SECTION 2-124 <br />OF ARTICLE XVIII OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, AS AMENDED, <br />RELATING TO ADMINISTRATION OF CLAIMS AGAINST THE CITY. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottes- <br />ville, Virginia, that Section 2-124 of the Code of the City <br />of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended, is hereby amended and <br />reordained as follows: <br />Section 2-124. Compromise and payment of claims against <br />city. <br />Claims for damages made against the city not covered by <br />insurance or falling within the deductible limits of any <br />coverage may be paid from the risk management fund with the <br />following limits: <br />(a) Claims of five handEed one thousand dollars or less <br />shall be paid by the director of finance from the risk <br />management fund upon certification by the city attorney and <br />the director of finance that the city is liable for payment <br />• or that the amount to be paid is recommended as a compromise <br />of a claim involving disputed liability. <br />(b) Claims of more than five headped one thousand <br />dollars but not more than five seven thousand dollars shall <br />be paid by the director of finance from the risk management <br />fund upon certification by both the city attorney and the <br />city manager that the city is liable for payment or that the <br />amount to be paid is recommended as a compromise of a claim <br />involving disputed liability. <br />(c) Claims in excess of five seven thousand dollars <br />shall be paid from the risk management fund only after <br />authorization from city council. <br />Approved by Council <br />August 1, 1988 <br />erk of Council <br />0 88-7-34 <br />
