• AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN CHAPTER 11 OF THE CODE OF <br />THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA (1976), AS AMENDED, <br />TO EFFECT THE REPEAL OF THE BUILDING OFFICIALS AND CODE <br />ADMINISTRATORS (BOCA) BASIC FIRE PREVENTION CODE, 1981 <br />EDITION, AS THE LOCAL FIRE PREVENTION CODE, TO ADOPT A <br />POLICY OF ENFORCING IN ITS ENTIRETY THE VIRGINIA STATEWIDE <br />FIRE PREVENTION CODE, 1987 EDITION, AND FOR OTHER <br />HOUSEKEEPING PURPOSES RELATED TO FIRE PROTECTION, <br />REQUIRING THE REPEAL OF CERTAIN SECTIONS, THE AMENDMENT OF <br />OTHERS AND THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION, NUMBERED 11-6.2 <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, that Chapter 11, Fire Protection, of <br />the Code of the City of Charlottesville (1976), as amended, <br />is hereby further amended and reordained as follows: <br />1. Sections 11-6, 11-6.1, 11-13 and 11-14 are hereby <br />repealed. <br />2. The remainder of Chapter 11 is hereby further <br />amended and reordained as follows: <br />ARTICLE I. FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />ARTICLE II. GENERAL PROVISIONS <br />Sec. 11-4. False fire or ambulance alarms. . . <br />Sec. 11-5. Smoke detectors in certain buildings. <br />(a) . . . <br />(b) . . . <br />(c) . . . <br />(d) . . . <br />(e) . . . The city fire department shall bear the <br />primary responsibility for enforcing this section, but it <br />may delegate such responsibility as appropriate to the <br />inspections division of the public works department, which <br />is hereby authorized to enforce this section at the request <br />of the fire department as though it were a section of <br />chapter514 of this Code. <br />0 1 <br />
