• AN ORDINANCE <br />CLOSING, VACATING AND DISCONTINUING <br />A PORTION OF HAMMOND STREET <br />WHEREAS, proper notice that Booton and Bernadette <br />Herndon would request the City Planning Commission to <br />initiate street closing procedures to close a portion of <br />Hammond Street was duly posted and advertised; <br />WHEREAS, owners along the street proposed to be vacated <br />have been duly notified; <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the statutes in such cases made and <br />provided, the Council held a joint public hearing with the <br />Planning Commission on April 12, 1988, and received comments <br />from the City staff, the Planning Commission and the public; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommended closure of <br />that portion of Hammond Street; now, therefore, <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottes- <br />ville, Virginia that the said portion of the street located <br />• in said City, described as follows, is hereby closed, vacated <br />and discontinued as a public thoroughfare of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia, said portion of the street not <br />being needed for public use and travel: <br />That portion of the dedicated but unimproved <br />right-of-way of Hammond Street lying between <br />parallel lines twenty feet apart, beginning at the <br />southeastern boundary of City Tax Map Parcel 21-87 <br />and extending in a southwesterly direction to the <br />point at which such parallel lines intersect the <br />extension of the southeastern boundary of Parcel <br />21-90.1. <br />BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Clerk of the Council <br />shall send a copy of this ordinance with plat attached to the <br />Clerk of the Circuit Court for recordation in the current <br />street closing book. <br />Approved by Council <br />May 16, 1988 <br />C,Zlerk of Council <br />88-7-17 <br />
