AN ORDINANCE <br />• AMENDING AND REORDAINING SECTIONS 12-3, <br />12-6, 12-6.1, 12-7, 24-2 AND 29-2 OF <br />OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1976, <br />RELATING TO UTILITY RATES. <br />12-4, 12-5, <br />THE CODE <br />AS AMENDED, <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, that: <br />1. Sections 12-3, 12-4, 12-5, 12-6, 12-6.1, 12-7, 24-2 and <br />29-2 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1976, as amended, <br />is hereby amended and reordained as follows: <br />Sec. 12-3. Rates - Generally. <br />The firm service gas rates based on monthly meter readings <br />shall be as follows: <br />Basic Monthly Service Charge $7.35 <br />First 3,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet $576367 5.8103 <br />Next 3,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet $57$929 5.4617 <br />Next 144,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet $477e99 4.8807 <br />All over 150,000 cubic feet, per 1,000 cubic feet $476195 4.7644 <br />Sec. 12-4. Same - Summer air conditioning. <br />Gas service under the following rate shall be available to <br />customers who request such service in writing and who have <br />installed and use air conditioning equipment operated by natural <br />gas as the principal source of energy. The air conditioning rate <br />will be available for bills rendered during the months of May <br />through October of each year and shall be as follows: <br />(a) Single Family Residential. For the first four thousand <br />cubic feet of gas used per month, the charge shall be the sum as <br />set forth under section 12-3 of this Code, and for all gas used in <br />excess of four thousand cubic feet per month, the rate shall be <br />$37F6 3.80 per one thousand cubic feet. <br />(b) Other. All gas used for summer air conditioning shall <br />be separately billed at the rate of $37F6 3.80 per one thousand <br />cubic feet. All gas used during billing periods other than May <br />through October of each year shall be at the rates set forth in <br />section 12-3, 12-6 or 12-6.1 of this Code as applicable. The <br />director of finance may, when it is impracticable to install a <br />separate meter for air conditioning equipment, permit the use of <br />one meter for all gas delivered to the customer, in which instance <br />the director of finance shall estimate the amount of gas for uses <br />other than air conditioning and shall bill for such gas at the <br />
