• AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING AND REORDAINING SECTION 15-73 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1990, AS AMENDED, <br />RELATING TO PROHIBITION OF TRUCK TRAFFIC ON CERTAIN STREETS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, that Section 15-73 of the Charlottesville City Code, <br />1990, as amended, is hereby amended and reordained as follows: <br />Section 15-73. Streets closed to certain trucks. <br />(a) Tractor trucks (defined as any motor vehicle designed and <br />used primarily for drawing other vehicles and not so constructed as <br />to carry a load other than a part of the load and weight of the <br />vehicle attached thereto) and any other trucks of more than two (2) <br />axles, with the exceptions described in subsection (b) of this <br />section, are prohibited from using the following city streets: <br />(1) Jefferson Park Avenue from its intersection with Fontaine <br />Avenue and Maury Avenue to its intersection with Harris <br />Road: <br />(2) Harris Road from its intersection with Fifth Street, S.E. <br />to its intersection with Jefferson Park Avenue and <br />Camellia Drive. <br />• (3) The northbound lane of Park Street from the 250 Bypass to <br />the northern city limits. <br />(4) North Avenue from Park Street to Sheridan Avenue. <br />(5) Calhoun Street from Sheridan Avenue to St. Clair Avenue. <br />(6) Locust Avenue. <br />(7) St. Clair Avenue from the 250 Bypass to Peartree Lane. <br />(8) Belleview Avenue from River Road to St. Clair Avenue. <br />(9) Watson Avenue from the westbound Locus Avenue ramp to <br />Park Street. <br />10 Brandywine Avenue from the 250 Bypass to its intersection <br />with Greenbrier Drive. <br />11 Greenbrier Drive from Brandywine Drive to its <br />(b) The streets listed in subsection (b) of this section may <br />be used by tractor trucks and other trucks with more than two (2) <br />axles only for the purpose of making deliveries or pick-ups of <br />goods or passengers on that street, or when use of such street is <br />the only safe means of access to another nearby street. In the <br />case of the above-described northbound lane of Park Street, such <br />lane may also be used by trucks otherwise prohibited when those <br />trucks are making deliveries or pick-ups on Rio Road between its <br />intersection with the city limits and its intersection with <br />Greenbrier Drive. <br />(c) This section shall have no application to pickup trucks, <br />• which are defined as "any motor vehicle designed for the <br />transportation of property with a registered gross weight of seven <br />thousand five hundred (7,500) pounds or less." <br />Approved by Council 2�_ 6ti <br />December 20, 1993 <br />rk of City Coun it <br />
