AN ORDINANCE <br />• AMENDING AND REORDAINING SECTION 15-246 OF ARTICLE 8 <br />OF THE CHARLOTTESVILLE CITY CODE, 1990, AS AMENDED, <br />PROHIBITING ROLLER SKATES, ROLLERBLADES AND SKATEBOARDS <br />ON THE DOWNTOWN MALL. <br />• <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council for the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia that Section 15-246 of Article 8 of Chapter 15 of the <br />Charlottesville City Code, 1990, as amended, is hereby amended and <br />reordained as follows: <br />Sec. 15-246. Riding and skating on sidewalks and the downtown <br />mall. <br />No person shall ride a bicycle or moped on any sidewalk or <br />other area designated exclusively for pedestrian traffic including, <br />without limitation, the pedestrian mall area on Main Street between <br />the Ninth Street bridge East th St-eet and Ridge -McIntire Road <br />Water provided, however, that this prohibition shall not <br />apply to on -duty police officers using the pedestrian mall. <br />No person shall ride or use rollerskates, rollerblades, <br />skateboards, or similar devices on wheels or runners on the above- <br />described pedestrian mall area on Main Street. <br />Approved by Council <br />March 20, 1995 <br />1 rk of City Council <br />
