See. 32-7. Definitions. <br />(a) Taxicab. Anv motor vehicle with a seating capacity of not more than six passengers used <br />in the performance of a Taxicab Service. <br />(b) Taxicab Service. The transportation of passengers by motor vehicle provided for hire or for <br />compensation, not provided on a regular route or between fixed terminals. <br />c) Operator. Anv person who. for compensation. sells or offers for sale transportation subiect <br />to this Chapter, or who makes any contract, agreement or arrangement to provide, procure, <br />furnish or arrange for such transportation, or who holds himself out by advertisement, <br />solicitation or otherwise as one who sells, provides, procures, contracts or arranges for such <br />• transportation. The term shall include the person who owns a passenger motor vehicle for hire, <br />including a Taxicab, and any agents and/or other representatives of such owner. The term shall <br />not include any bona fide employee driver of an Operator so far as concerns transportation <br />furnished, or to be furnished, by the employee driver on behalf of such Operator; however, the <br />term shall include the driver of a Taxicab if the driver is also the owner of the Taxicab. <br />(d) Person. Any individual, firm, co -partnership, corporation, company, association or ioint- <br />stock association, including, without limitation, any trustee, receiver, assignee "or personal <br />representative thereof. <br />(e) Chief Police. Wherever used in this chapter, the phrase "chief of police" or "police chief" <br />shall mean and refer to the chief of the Charlottesville Police Department, and/or a police officer <br />designated by the chief to act on his behalf. <br />(f) City Manager. Wherever used in this chapter, the phrase "city manager" shall mean and refer <br />to the City Manager of the City of Charlottesville, and/or a member of the City Manager's staff <br />designated by the City Manager to act on his behalf. <br />0 <br />
