AN ORDINANCE <br />• TO QUITCLAIM THE CITY'S INTEREST IN <br />A PORTION OF THE FORMER PARK PLACE, <br />CLOSED AND VACATED BY CITY COUNCIL ON MARCH 20, 1989. <br />WHEREAS, the University of Virginia plans to build a parking garage on property <br />designated as Parcel 136 on City Real Estate Tax Map 10; and <br />WHEREAS, a portion of the former Park Place right-of-way, closed by City Council on <br />March 20, 1989, crosses Parcel 136 on,City Real Estate Tax Map 10; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to insure good title the University must secure a quitclaim deed <br />from the City releasing any interest the City may have in that portion of the former Park Place <br />right-of-way; now, therefore, <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that the <br />Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a deed of quitclaim, in form approved by the City <br />Attorney, for conveyance to the University of Virginia all of the City's right, title and interest to a <br />portion of the former Park Place right-of-way, which was closed and vacated by City Council on <br />March 20, 1989. The City Attorney is hereby directed to take whatever steps are necessary to <br />effect the closing of said conveyance. <br />Approved by Council <br />January 5, 1998 <br />Ak of City Council <br />
