AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING AND REORDAINING SECTION 34-567 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, 1990, AS AMENDED, RELATED TO PROPERTIES <br />PROTECTED IN THE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN CONTROL DISTRICTS <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, that Section <br />34-567 of Article XVIII of Chapter 34 of the Code of the City of Charlottesville, 1990, as <br />amended, is hereby amended and reordained as follows: <br />Sec 34-567. Protected Properties <br />(a) This article creates an 'overlay" zoning restriction or district without affecting the <br />underlying zoning restrictions imposed by other provisions of the City Zoning Ordinance. The <br />restrictions imposed by this article shall apply to the following properties, sites or areas, which <br />may be referred to collectively as "protected properties" or "protected areas and/or sites": <br />(1) All buildings, structures, sites and areas and the property on which they are <br />located within the €ear (4) five 5 major architectural design control districts <br />shown on the City zoning map. The design districts so designated and thereby <br />deemed "major" design control districts are District A (formerly the Downtown <br />Architectural Design Control District or the "DADC"), District B (formerly <br />• known as the Architectural Design Control District or the "ADC"), District C, <br />known as the Ridge Street District, and District D, known as the West Main Street <br />Architectural Design Control District, and District E, known as the Wertland <br />Street Architectural Design Control District.
