. AN ORDINANCE CLOSING, VACATING AND DISCONTINUING AN ALLEY OFF BAINBRIDGE STREET WHEREAS, proper notice was duly posted and advertised that the Commonwealth of Virginia, on behalf of Virginia Industries for the Blind, would request the City Planning Commission to initiate street closing procedures to close an alley off Bainbridge Street, said right-of-way being approximately 12 feet in width and running a distance of approximately 100 feet to its terminus, shown on the attached map drawn by the City's Neighborhood Development Services Department; WHEREAS, owners along this alley have been duly notified; WHEREAS, a joint public hearing by the Planning Commission and City Council was held on January 9, 2001, and comments from the City staff, the Planning Commission and the public were made and heard; and WHEREAS, the Planning Commission recommended closure of the subject alley with the recommendation that the approximate value of the alley right-of-way ($3,600) be requested from the Commonwealth of Virginia; now, therefore, • BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that the alley off Bainbridge Street, described as follows, is hereby closed, vacated and discontinued as a public thoroughfare of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia, said alley not being needed for public use and travel: An alley off Bainbridge Street in the City of Charlottesville, approximately 12 feet in width and running southeast a distance of approximately 100 feet from Bainbridge Street to its terminus, shown on the attached map drawn by the Neighborhood Development Services Department, and located on City Real Estate Tax Map 57 adjacent to Parcels 112, 113, 114 and 115. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Clerk of the Council shall send a copy of this ordinance with plat attached to the Clerk of the Circuit Court for recordation in the current street closing book.
