• LEASE <br />THIS LEASE is entered into and made effective this day of 12001 <br />by and between the CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA, a municipal corporation, <br />hereinafter "City", and the CHARLOTTESVILLE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT <br />AUTHORITY, a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hereinafter <br />"CIDA". <br />WITNESSETH: <br />WHEREAS, the City has acquired from the United States of America certain property, <br />with all improvements thereon and appurtenances thereto, located on the east side of 7' <br />Street, N.E., commonly known as the National Ground Intelligence Center, containing <br />• approximately 34,689.31 square feet and shown on a physical survey plat prepared by <br />Thomas B. Lincoln Land Surveyor, Inc., dated March 16, 2000, hereinafter "the properly"; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, the City and CIDA recognize that the continued use of the property for <br />commercial purposes is of strategic importance to the economic health of the community, <br />and particularly to downtown Charlottesville; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City wishes to utilize the expertise and statutory authority of CIDA <br />to renovate, market and lease space in the property for the purposes of economic growth, <br />investment in the downtown area and creation of additional employment opportunities. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the mutual covenants and <br />agreements herein contained, the parties do hereby agree and covenant as follows: <br />
