ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING CONVEYANCE OF CITY -OWNED LOT <br />• ON MONROE LANE (TAX MAP PARCEL 11-124) <br />TO THE UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA <br />WHEREAS, the University of Virginia ("UVA") wishes to acquire a parcel of land <br />owned by the City, of Charlottesville, approximately 2,027 square feet in area, and shown on a <br />plat made by Thomas B. Lincoln Land Surveyor, Inc., dated April 25, 2002 (the "Property"), in <br />order to use the property for construction of parking facilities for the Health Sciences Center; and <br />WHEREAS, UVA has agreed to pay to the City Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000), the <br />assessed value of the property; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Code §15.2-1800(B), a public hearing was held <br />to give the public an opportunity to comment on the possible sale of the Property; and <br />WHEREAS; the Director of Neighborhood Development Services and the Director of <br />Economic Development have no objection to the conveyance; now, therefore <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that the City <br />Manager is hereby authorized to execute the Real Estate Purchase Agreement, in form approved <br />by the City Attorney, for this transaction, and the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a special <br />warranty deed, in form approved by the City Attorney and in substantially the same form as <br />attached hereto, to convey the Property to the University of Virginia. The City Attorney is <br />hereby authorized to take whatever steps are necessary to effect the closing of said property <br />conveyance. <br />Approved by Council <br />December 2, 2002 <br />&.19 k of City Council <br />
