AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AUTHORIZE CONVEYANCE OF CITY -OWNED PROPERTY <br />(FOUR VACANT LOTS ON JOHN STREET) <br />TO PIEDMONT HOUSING ALLIANCE <br />WHEREAS, Piedmont Housing Alliance wishes to acquire four (4) City -owned lots on <br />John Street, designated as Parcels 277.1E, 277.117, 277AG and 277.1H on City Real Estate <br />Tax Map 4, hereinafter the "Property," for the purpose of constructing townhouses for sale to <br />City residents; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Code §15.2-1800(8), a public hearing was <br />held to give the public an opportunity to comment on the possible sale of said City land; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Assessor has appraised the fair market value of the Property at <br />$75,000.00, and Piedmont Housing Alliance has agreed to pay $75,000.00 as the purchase <br />price, plus accept certain restrictions on the sale of the housing units to future buyers; and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Strategic Planning has reviewed the plan and has <br />recommended the sale; now, therefore <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia that the City <br />• Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract, and the Mayor is hereby authorized to <br />execute a deed of conveyance, both in form approved by the City Attorney, conveying the <br />above -referenced Property to Piedmont Housing Alliance for the purchase price of $75,000.00. <br />The City Attorney is hereby authorized to take whatever steps are necessary to effect the <br />closing of said property conveyance. <br />Approved by Council <br />December 2, 2002 <br />CA,eEX of City Courtcil <br />
