AN ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING THE CONVEYANCE OF <br />CITY -OWNED PROPERTY AT THE INTERSECTION OF <br />MONITCELLO AVENUE AND DRUID AVENUE <br />TO LANDON AND SUZANNE HARRIS <br />WHEREAS, Landon and Suzanne Harris, the owners of 1019 Druid Avenue, <br />wish to acquire the adjoining vacant City -owned property located at the intersection of <br />Monticello Avenue and Druid Avenue; and, <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Virginia Code sec. 15.2-1800 (B), a public <br />hearing was held to give the public an opportunity to comment on the proposed <br />conveyance of the City property as requested by Mr. and Ms. Harris; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Engineer, the City Traffic Engineer and the Public Utilities <br />Manager have reviewed the proposed conveyance and have no objection thereto, <br />provided that a 20' wide easement be retained for maintenance and repair of the existing <br />water line and meter; <br />• NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that the Mayor is authorized to execute a deed of quitclaim, in <br />form approved by the City Attorney, for the triangular piece of vacant City -owned <br />property located at the intersection of Monticello Avenue and Druid Avenue, adjacent to <br />Parcel 127 on City Tax Map 60, containing approximately 4,158 square feet, and with an <br />easement 20 feet in width retained by the City centered on the existing City water line. <br />As compensation to the City for the conveyance, the buyer shall construct, or cause to be <br />constructed, approximately 132 linear feet of City standard sidewalk on Druid Avenue, <br />adjacent to the property conveyed and 1019 Druid Avenue. The sidewalk shall contain <br />all elements included in the cost estimate of $6,548.85 prepared by the City Engineering <br />Department dated September 2, 2004. The City Attorney is hereby authorized to take <br />whatever steps are necessary to effect the closing of said property conveyance. <br />Apppoued,".by},'Cduncil <br />September 20, 2004 <br />1 rk of City Council <br />
