• A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE POLICY OF THE CITY COUNCIL .WITH REGARD TO APPOINTMENTS TO THE SOCIAL•'DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION WHEREAS, this Council -ori March 11, 1974 and June 28, 1976 adopted resolutions establishing a procedure for the selection of persons to be appointed' to the Social Development Commission; and WHEREAS, this Council now finds it desirable to provide increased flexibility in such selection procedure, while still giving due consideration to the interests represented -in such process; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the.City of Charlottesville that the aforesaid resolutions adopted March 11, 1974 and June'28, 1976 are hereby repealed; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following policies and procedures will henceforth be adhered to by the Council in select- ing the persons to be appointed to the'Social Development • Commission: (1) The Chairmen of the Boards of Directors of the United Way, the Council of Churches and the Chamber of Commerce and the Chairman of the City School Board will be asked to nominate not more than three members of their respective boards who are residents of the City; (,2) The President of the University of.Virginia will be asked to nominate not more than three representatives of the University administration who are residents of the City; (3) The Chairman of the Welfare Advisory.Board will be requested to nominate not more than six present or former recipients of welfare services who are City residents, and the Council' will select two of such nominees for appointment to the Commission; (4) The ranking student government officer at Charlottesville High School will be'asked'to nominate not'more than three members of the student.body;. (5) The local Chapter of the American Association of Retired • Persons will be asked to nominate not more than three of'its members who reside in the City;
