A RESOLUTION <br />• REQUESTING THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS <br />AND TRANSPORTATION <br />TO INITIATE A PROJECT FOR <br />CERTAIN STREET OR HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENTS <br />WHEREAS, the Council has determined that it is necessary and appropriate <br />for the future transportation needs of the City to initiate certain street <br />and highway improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation requires <br />a formal request for each project and certain commitments on the part of <br />City Council, before the Department can initiate work on such highway projects <br />to be funded from the City's annual allocations of urban highway improvement <br />funds; now, therefore, be it <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville: <br />1. That the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation be <br />and hereby is requested to establish a project within the corporate <br />limits of the City of Charlottesville for/improvements to: <br />McIntire Road between Cherry Avenue and Melbourne Road. <br />• 2. That the City hereby agrees to pay its share of the cost of <br />engineering, acquisition of right-of-way, and construction of <br />such project under the cost formula of 90% from the Department and <br />10% from the City. <br />3• The City further agrees that if such project is established as <br />herein requested, and thereafter the City elects not to continue <br />with such project to completion, the City will repay the Department <br />for 100% of the costs incurred by the Department up to the time of <br />such action by the City terminating such project. <br />Copy Teste: <br />Clerk <br />Adopted by the Council <br />March 20, 1978 <br />
