• RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, is supportive of the establishment of an office <br />on youth, hereafter the Youth Service Center, that will <br />foster wholesome youth development and the prevention of <br />juvenile delinquency; and <br />WHEREAS the Council is also desirous of establishing <br />and sponsoring a Youth Commission which will serve as a <br />policy-making and governing board for the Youth Service <br />Center to identify, develop and provide comprehensive <br />integrated youth services and a delinquency prevention <br />program; now, therefore, be it <br />RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia, that the Council will jointly appoint with the <br />Board of Supervisors of Albemarle County a nine member <br />Youth Commission to identify, plan and coordinate services <br />for youth and to oversee the functions of the Youth <br />Service Center. This commission shall be composed of <br />private citizens, youth representatives and professionals, <br />such that a majority of members shall not be employed by <br />. local or state youth -serving agencies or be an elected <br />government official. Appointments shall be for a three-year <br />term.
