• AN ORDINANCE <br />TO AMEND AND REORDAIN SECTIONS 6-8 AND 6-9 <br />OF THE CODE OF THE <br />CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA, 1976, <br />AS AMENDED, TO PROVIDE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE <br />BURIAL OF URNS IN OAKWOOD CEMETERY. <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Charlottesville, <br />Virginia: <br />1. That Sections 6-8 and 6-9 of the Code of the City of Charlottes- <br />ville, 1976, as amended, are hereby amended and reordained as <br />follows: <br />Section 6-8. Depth of graves; care in digging; <br />notice to director. <br />Each grave shall net be not less than five feet in depth <br />except that if it is for burial of an urn it need be only two feet <br />in depth. No interment shall be made which shall disturb the <br />remains of the dead, or which shall displace or injure any monument <br />or stone placed over a grave. All persons desiring to have a grave <br />opened shall notify the director of parks and recreation at least <br />twenty-four hours before the interment and shall designate the space <br />which is to be used. <br />• Section 6-9. Charges for grave space and <br />digging graves. <br />(a) The following charges shall be made for grave spaces in <br />Oakwood Cemetery: In Divisions H, J, K and L, seventy dollars for <br />each space, except that urn spaces in Division J shall be only ten <br />dollars for each space. All sums so paid shall be deposited in <br />the fund described in section 6-6 of this Code. <br />(b) The following charges shall be made for opening graves <br />when interment occurs on weekdays: <br />(1) Where the outside case is three feet or less <br />in length, fifty dollars. <br />(2) Where the outside case exceeds three feet in <br />length, one hundred dollars. <br />(3) Where an urn is to be buried in an urn space, <br />twenty-five dollars. <br />(c) The following charges shall be made for opening graves <br />when interment occurs on weekends or holidays: <br />• (1) Where the outside case is three feet or less . <br />in length, seventy-five dollars.. <br />(2) Where the outside case exceeds three feet in <br />length, one hundred and.'twenty-five dollars. <br />
