• RESOLUTION GRANTING SPECIAL USE PERMIT <br />TO BETA PI CHAPTER OF SIGMA PI FRATERNITY <br />TO EXPAND THE EXISTING FRATERNITY AT 1533 VIRGINIA AVENUE <br />WHEREAS, the Beta Pi Chapter of Sigma Pi Fraternity and <br />the Historic Renovation Corporation of the University of <br />Virginia have requested a special use permit to expand the <br />existing fraternity at 1533 Virginia Avenue; <br />WHEREAS, the proposed renovation will add approximately <br />2200 square feet of building in a two-story wing, will <br />include a new dining hall/activity room and five bedrooms <br />and will accommodate 24 residents with the addition/renovation; <br />WHEREAS, following a joint public hearing before this <br />Council and the Planning Commission, duly advertised and <br />held on April 14, 1987, this Council finds that such use <br />will conform to the standards set forth in Section 31-28.1 <br />of the City Code and to the criteria applicable to special <br />permits generally under Chapter 31 of the City Code; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Charlottes- <br />ville, Virginia that the special use permit is hereby granted to <br />allow the Beta Pi Chapter of the Sigma Phi Fraternity and the <br />Historic Renovation Corporation to expand the existing <br />fraternity at 1533 Virginia Avenue. This property is further <br />identified on City Real Property Tax Map #9 as Parcel #17, <br />having approximately 143 feet of frontage on Virginia Avenue and <br />containing approximately 22,880 square feet of land, or .52 5 <br />acres. This special use permit is granted upon the condition <br />that a joint entrance be developed with the adjacent property at <br />1521 Virginia Avenue. <br />Approved by Council <br />May 4, 1987 <br />C rk ot Council <br />87-6-27 <br />• <br />
