• PROCLAMATION <br />WHEREAS, Lawrence Burruss served on the Charlottesville School Board <br />from 1982 to 1991, and served as its Vice Chairman from 1987 to 1990; and <br />WHEREAS, Lawrence Burruss successfully and sincerely represented the <br />Belmont neighborhood during his tenure on the School Board; and <br />WHEREAS, Lawrence Burruss provided the valuable perspective of a <br />business person's point of view, and stressed the need for fiscal <br />responsibility as well as educational excellence; and <br />WHEREAS, Lawrence Burruss was a strong advocate for the <br />Charlottesville- Albemarle Technical Education Center, both as a Board <br />Member and as Chairman, and recognized the educational importance of the <br />Center to the community; and <br />WHEREAS, Lawrence Burruss was an active member of the School's <br />Capital Projects Committee and supported responsible planning efforts for <br />all school facilities; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Charlottesville would <br />like to thank Lawrence Burruss for his countless contributions to the <br />• Charlottesville school system, for his respect for the needs of all <br />students, and for his steadfast devotion to the entire Charlottesville <br />community.
