Dear Adelphia Customer.
This letter will serve as an important supplement to the previous notifications you have received from Adelphia.
It contains information relevant to every cable subscriber and concerns important changes in the availability and
pricing of cable programming, which will be reflected on your next monthly bill. We encourage everyone to
read this letter carefully.
Adelphia's Response to the Cable Act
Adelphia would like to bring to your attention changes we have made in order to come into compliance with
The Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992 ("the Cable Act"). The intent of the law
is to ensure that quality service and increased programming choices are available to cable subscribers at reasonable
prices, an ideal to which Adelphia has always aspired. We believe that the changes detailed below will help Adelphia
to meet these goals, and, generally speaking, will make your cable system more customer -friendly.
The Cable Act and other regulations under which we are required to operate are very complex, and we apologize
for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of this new complexity.
For Basic Service Customers...
If ,you now receive only Basic Service (consisting of broadcast channels and Public/Educ: tional/Govemment
Access channels), and want to continue to receive the same selection of channels at the same trice, you do not need
• to do anything -- we will continue to provide it to you. But if you want to receive additional services, you may do
so as detailed further in this letter. Please note that you are required to subscribe to Basic Service before you can
subscribe to any other services.
...and for Standard Service and Economv Service Customers..
All the channels you have purchased on the Satellite Service and Expanded Satellite S • vice levels are still
available as a group and are now also available individually (as detailed below).
Introducina... CableSelect!
Certain provisions of the Cable Act encourage cable companies to offer an increased r: ge of programming
options, and in recent years, Adelphia has heard requests from many subscribers for more pro ramming choice.
As you have already been notified through other means, Adelphia now offers "CabieSt 'eet", a new way to buy
television under which all cable channels are still priced and sold as groups (known as "Cable Value" and "CablePlus"),
and are also available individually, if you would prefer to customize your channel lineup (as ( tailed below).
"CableValue"
If you now receive Economy Service, and you want to continue to receive the same sc : ction of channels at
the same price, you do not need to do anything. You will notice a change in the itemization of your monthly bill:
from now on ,you will see one line item for Basic Service, and a second for "CableValue" (all channels in the
"CableSeleet I" category as listed on the attached chart).
"CablePlus" -- your best value
• If you now receive Standard Service, and you want to continue to receive the same selection of channels at the
same price, you do not need to do anything. You will notice a change in the itemization of our monthly bill:
from now on you will see one line item for Basic Service, a second for "CableValue" (all cho mets in the
CableSclect I" category on the attached chart), and a third for "CablePlus" tall channels in U • "CableSelect 2"
category).
3 TIER CS GEN CBK
