E <br />40 <br />R E S O L U T I O N <br />City/County Cooperative Educational Efforts <br />WHEREAS, the Albemarle Board of County Supervisors and the Charlottesville <br />City Council believe that a high priority of their joint efforts is to provide <br />students in both jurisdictions with more educational opportunities within the two <br />public school systems; and <br />WHEREAS, an important by-product of cooperative efforts will be in the <br />voluntary opportunities for students to cross school district lines which should <br />lessen the separation along racial and economic lines; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the governing bodies of Albemarle and <br />Charlottesville encourage and support their respective school boards in <br />considering the following educatio al programming opportunities in order to <br />provide a more efficient and cooperative educational system for the Albemarle/ <br />Charlottesville area: <br />♦ A magnet program concept, <br />♦ Cooperative summer schools and alternative schools, <br />♦ Cooperative staff development, <br />♦ Cooperative adult education, <br />♦ Joint summer school enrichment programs, <br />♦ Networking of computers between both school systems, and <br />♦ Cooperative recruitment of teaching personnel. <br />i <br />C1r, , Charlottesville City Council <br />/q /IIS_ <br />Date <br />V L/ <br />4er�kAlbemarle Board of C ty <br />Supervisors <br />Date <br />Approved by Council <br />December 12, 1995 <br />
