• <br />• <br />0 <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, the planning district commissions throughout the Commonwealth <br />serve both state and local interests; and <br />WHEREAS, the state funding for planning district commissions would support <br />the state's interest in regional planning, and the use of regional planning as a basis <br />for state-wide planning; and <br />WHEREAS, the local contribution to the Thomas Jefferson Planning District <br />Commission increases every year as a result of population growth; and <br />WHEREAS, additional state support would assist the planning district <br />commissions to help both the state and local governments; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of <br />Charlottesville supports increased state funding for planning district commissions <br />and urges the passage of the budget amendment to do so, on the condition that <br />such increased state funding does not include a local matching requirement. <br />Approved by Council <br />February 17, 1998 <br />C Qe k of City Council <br />
