• AMENDMENT OF AGREEMENT <br />ESTABLISHING THE COMMISSION ON CHILDREN AND FAMILIES <br />This 3rd day of November , 1999, the Albemarle County Board of <br />Supervisors and the Charlottesville City Council have entered into an agreement to amend and <br />modify their previous agreement forming the Commission on Children and Families. <br />WHEREAS, the parties mutually desire to amend and modify their previous agreement <br />forming the Commission on Children and Families (hereinafter, "Original Agreement"); <br />NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual premises set forth herein, the parties <br />do hereby agree as follows: <br />A. Structure of the Commission. Paragraph I of the parties' Original Agreement is hereby <br />amended and modified, to read: <br />"1) With respect to the STRUCTURE OF THE COMMISSION, the City and the County agree <br />that: <br />a) The Commission shall consist of seventeen voting members. A maiority of the <br />board shall be citizens who are not employed by government or service <br />• agencies and who are not elected 2overnment officials. Nine of the votine <br />members shall be citizen representatives ("Citizen Members"): four appointed by <br />the County, four appointed by the City and one jointly appointed private service <br />provider. Of the nine citizen members, at least one appointee from each <br />jurisdiction must be a parent, and at least one appointee from each iurisdiction <br />must be a youth under the age of eighteen years at the time his or her <br />appointment takes effect. Eight of the voting members shall be <br />as follows ("Agency Members"): the Superintendent of the Charlottesville <br />City School division; the Superintendent of Albemarle County School <br />division; the Director of the Charlottesville Department of Social Services,• <br />the Director of the Albemarle County Department of Social Services- the <br />Director of the Sixteenth District Court Services Unit the Director of the <br />Thomas Jefferson Health District; the Director of Region Ten Community <br />Services Board, and a representative of the University of Virginia In <br />addition to the seventeen voting members the Commission shall include <br />three non-voting members, an Albemarle Assistant County Executive; a <br />• Charlottesville Assistant City Manager; and the President of the United Way <br />Thomas Jefferson Area. <br />
