• A MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br />THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE AND THE SHERIFF OF ALBEMARLE <br />COUNTY <br />THIS AGREEMENT made this day of , 2007 by <br />and between the CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE, VIRGINIA (the "City"), and the <br />SHERIFF OF ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VIRGINIA (the "County Sheriff'). <br />WHEREAS, by Agreement dated August 16, 1995 the City of Charlottesville entered <br />into a Police Mutual Aid Agreement with the County of Albemarle and The Rector and Visitors <br />of the University of Virginia; and, <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Virginia Code sec. 15.2-1736 the governing body of a locality <br />and the Sheriff of another locality may, by proper resolution, enter in and become a party to a <br />• mutual aid agreement for the use of their joint forces, their equipment and materials to maintain <br />peace and good order; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City and the County Sheriff have determined that the provision of law <br />enforcement aid across jurisdictional lines will increase their ability to respond to law <br />enforcement emergencies involving immediate threats to life or public safety in their respective <br />jurisdictions; will promote ongoing law enforcement cooperation; and will assist them in the <br />preservation of public safety and welfare of the entire area; <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be mutually beneficial to the parties hereto to enter into an <br />agreement concerning mutual aid and cooperation with regard to law enforcement; and <br />WHEREAS, the parties hereto desire that the terms and conditions of a Mutual Aid <br />Agreement (the "Agreement") be established. <br />0 <br />
