Advisory Environmental Project Check List <br />• The City is committed to green building and sustainability in order to improve and protect <br />community health and wellbeing. This checklist is primarily for use by those submitting <br />development plans including site plans. The checklist is designed to help users adhere to <br />specific environmental regulations in the City's Municipal Code and generally to follow <br />sustainability principles in consideration of a project. It is recommend that answers to <br />the questions listed below be turned in, in addition to the other required items for a <br />development plan. When reviewing plans for submission, consider the following sections <br />of the City Code regarding these respective items. <br />Sections 34-827-828 (Site Plan Contents) 34-493 (Open Space) <br />1. What measures have been taken to preserve open space and how will the open <br />space be utilized? How will those areas be protected during construction and <br />maintained afterward? <br />2. How has light pollution been minimized? Have you looked at standards to reduce <br />light beyond the minimum code requirements? <br />3. How has the amount of impervious surface area been minimized? <br />4. How has the protection of existing and surrounding topography and environment <br />been taken into consideration? <br />5. How have storm water treatment/retention measures been used? <br />• 6. How have the natural features of the site(topography, soil, plants) been utilized to <br />minimize existing runoff and pollution? <br />Sections 34-252 --- 254 (Hydrology) <br />1. What are the impacts of this project on the natural environment? <br />2. How does the site plan respect the current natural hydrology of the building site? <br />3. How is the impact of development and construction on streams creeks and rivers <br />minimized in the site design? <br />Sections 34-502---503, 34-517, 34-862-869 (Landscaping) <br />1. What inventory of natural and historic resources on site has been completed? <br />2. What types and percentages of native plants have been included in the <br />landscaping plan? <br />3. How does landscaping minimize the noise, heat, light and glare emanating from <br />the structure and surrounding structures? <br />4. How was xericaping (landscaping in ways that do not require supplemental <br />irrigation) considered for minimizing water useage? If so, how? <br />5. Are trees and plantings drawn from the City's list of approved plantings? <br />6. What measures were taken to preserve the existing tree canopy? <br />Section 34-873 (Parking) <br />• 1. What will the mature landscape resemble? <br />
