• RESOLUTION <br />Supporting Safe Routes to School Grant (SRTS) Application <br />For Burnley -Moran Elementary School <br />$328,280 <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation has initiated a Safe Routes to School <br />program to enable and encourage children to walk and bicycle to school safely; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Charlottesville intends to provide safe pedestrian facilities, <br />especially along and across major streets and near schools and recreation facilities; and <br />WHEREAS, Burnley -Moran Elementary School has a Safe Routes to School program in <br />place; and <br />WHEREAS, this program requires no local match money; now, therefore, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council for the City of <br />Charlottesville, Virginia that this Council hereby authorizes the City Manager, or his designee, to <br />• enter into an agreement with the Virginia Department of Transportation to support the approved <br />SRTS grant application for Burnley -Moran Elementary School. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Charlottesville accepts the <br />responsibility of maintenance of the proposed infrastructure in perpetuity. <br />Approved by Council <br />July 21, 2008 <br />A d AA � <br />ler F of City -Council <br />1] <br />
