11 <br />RESOLUTION <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Charlottesville believes that changes should <br />be made to the City's zoning regulations to accommodate Single Room Occupancy (SRO) <br />facilities; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council finds and determines that the public necessity, convenience, <br />general welfare and good zoning practice require the study of certain amendments to Chapter 34 <br />(Zoning) of the Charlottesville City Code, 1990, as amended; now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council for the City of Charlottesville that amendments <br />to Chapter 34 (Zoning) of the Charlottesville City Code, 1990, as amended, to create regulations <br />that allow for and govern the use and siting of Single Room Occupancy facilities are hereby <br />initiated, and the Planning Commission is directed to conduct a study of such amendments to <br />include: <br />1. Define Single Room Occupancy (SRO) facilities; <br />2. Determine zoning districts where it is to be allowed, whether by -right or by <br />special use permit; <br />3. Density standards; <br />4. Minimum and maximum number of units; <br />5. Parking standards; <br />• 6. Operational concerns; and <br />7. Any other items relevant to the study of SRO facilities. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Planning Commission will submit its findings <br />and recommendations to the City Council no later than June 30, 2009. <br />Approved by Council <br />April 20, 2009 <br />C er of City Council <br />1] <br />
