114 <br /> <br />Buck. <br /> <br /> It was agreed that outdoor seating would not be <br />included in the 75 seat limit, nor would the outdoor area be <br />regulated. <br /> <br /> Mr. Barnes requested that a survey be conducted <br />regarding which larger restaurants have smoking policies. <br /> <br /> On motion by Mr. Buck, seconded by Mr. Barnes, it was <br />unanimously agreed not to regulate smoking in retail and <br />service businesses. <br /> <br /> Mr. Buck made a motion to restrict smoking in the <br />private work place where at least five persons work in a <br />single site per shift except in designated areas and <br />individual, enclosed offices. Mrs. Gleason seconded the <br />motion and it was approved by the following vote. Ayes: <br />Mr. Buck, Mrs. G!eason, Mro Towe. Noes: Mr. Barnes. <br /> <br /> It was agreed that smoking would be restricted in <br />elevators, hospitals, except private patient rooms and with <br />some provision for psychiatric hospitals, and in any public <br />meeting of City government, or an agency, board or <br />commission of City government. It was agreed that smoking <br />be restricted, except in designated areas, in City <br />buildings, schools, day care centers, and lobbies of <br />theatres and sporting arenas. <br /> <br /> It was decided that the Council would hold a public <br />hearing on the proposals on June 6th. <br /> <br /> of ~he Virginia <br />eting <br /> <br /> On motion by Mrs. Gleason, seconded by Mr. Barnes, <br />Council unanimously voted to meet in executive session to <br />discuss legal matters as exempted by Section 2.1-344(a)(6) <br /> Freedom of InfOrmation Act. <br /> <br />was adjourned. <br /> <br />NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON Tuesday, <br />April 19, 1988 AT 7:30 pom.
